The Surrey village of Stoke d'Abernon, some 18 miles from London, is conveniently situated near to the towns of Cobham, Leatherhead, Epsom and the county town of Guildford, whilst London is just a 40 minute journey by semi-fast train from the local railway station.

Stoke d'Abernon has a decided village atmoshpere with an active Residents' Association, a public house a small parade of shops with Post Office, village hall and Surrey's oldest church, St Mary's.

Walks can be had nearby and not far away is the country house of Polesden Lacey, it is owned by the National Trust and has both cultivated gardens and acres of open space for more extensive excursions.

Meals on Wheels

Would you like to be part of your community?

The Cobham Centre for the Community on Oakdene Road is currently experiencing a high demand for Meals on Wheels volunteers. This service delivers more than a meal to its recipients as it is also a wellbeing check and a friendly face. By delivering the service people can live at home more independently. Cobham delivered over 11,000 meals last year and this could not be done without volunteers. Supporting your local community is very rewarding so if this appeals to you, please contact Community Support Services on 01372 474552

The Residents’ Association feel that it would be nice to have a Stoke d’Abernon village sign. The signs are usually decorative with hand painted pictures with representations unique to the village in question. Here are a couple of examples. Your ideas for pictures can be left on the contact section of the website.

The sign really needs to be on the Stoke Road for maximum visibility. One suggestion is the small patch of grass between Blundel Lane and the entrance to the recreation ground. There is more information in the latest newsletter, and if you have any other suggestions do let us know.
