Seymours Landscapes Ltd - like Johnnie Walker whisky is 90 years old and still going strong !
Recently we leased our garden centre to a new operator as no doubt you will have noticed. However, Seymours as a company still continues, well into our third generation now. We create delightful domestic gardens from design, construction and planting, through to ongoing seasonal maintenance of the plants and lawns.
When Seymours moved to Stoke d'Abernon as long ago as 1982, in reality we were coming home. Just after World War II, Basil Seymour (the second generation) designed and constructed the sports ground grounds in Stoke d'Abernon for the Westminster Medical School. The grounds were opened by Harold Abrahams, the 1924 Olympic gold medalist, whose story was told in the hugely successful film 'Chariots of Fire'. The cost of turning farm land into levelled, drained and turfed playing surfaces was £16,000 - no doubt a princely sum in those days but it was a mere snip compared with the cost of turning it into a training ground for Chelsea Football Club !
That project really put Seymours on the map as a landscape company. There followed decades of successful garden design and creation, including RHS Chelsea and Hampton Court Flower Show awards for gardens - two of which were gold !
We would be pleased to quote for any project in the village, from a complete garden design to a refurbishment or maintenance of your existing borders. We look forward to meeting you soon.
