Policing issues
FEBRUARY 2009 A number of houses in local roads have had break-ins in recent months (see News section). The perpetrators of the ''garden wall pushing' episodes have been arrested and because of age, have been cautioned..
MAY 2008 The police held a liaison meeting with local residents in the village hall recently. Fortunately the village is not a hot spot for crime although vandalism is still of concern. There has been an occasional drugs problem as well. The police said that they would endeavour to patrol Station Road and the area around the railway station more frequently. The recreation ground was another area that would be kept under review. The next Stoke d'Abernon police liason meeting will in September - details are available on the 'calendar' part of this website. In Elmbridge as a whole, burglary is down although Walton remains a hot spot. Vehicle crime is showing a slight increase and people are reminded not to leave keys in sight of the front door to avoid fishing through the letterbox. Public violence and vandalism unfortunately continues to rise across the borough. There has also been a spate of theft of metal from community buildings and churches caused by the global increases in commodity prices including metal. ***** The local police team is shown here Stoke d'Abernon & Oxshott current police newsletter here (c400kb pdf - allow time to load)
